As field services for Stanislaus county we are on duty to help you where you often need it most, in our community.

People often call us dog catchers, although that is our most commonly recognized duties, it doesn’t stop there. We also educate the public on the laws we all benefit from everyday. We do our best to encourage responsible pet ownership, sadly that is not always enough.

Some of the other tasks we undertake daily for everyone’s peace of mind are:

• Investigation and follow-up of animal-inflicted injuries.
• Rabies control and reports for animal bites.
• Enforcing leash laws and other animal control ordinances.
• Capturing and impounding stray animals.
• Disposal of deceased animals in public accesses areas.
• Enforcing dog licenses as required by law.
• Investigating animal cruelty, vicious animal, and nuisance animal complaints.

The field officers that patrol and help with animal problems everyday do not have any easy job, but we are all determined as a team to assist the community in making it a safe one for all citizens.
